Watch Shakira get nervous thinking she spilled the tea on Rihanna’s pregnancy
The 2025 Met Gala included some shocks and surprises.
Among the most talked-about moments included Rihanna revealing she is pregnant with her third child. However, before she made her appearance on the Met Gala steps, Shakira got nervous thinking she shared the star’s secret ahead of time.
In video shared by New York Live and NBC New York on Instagram, Shakira was asked who she was excited to see inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“Rihanna, I want to see her. Yeah, I want to see her so bad,” Shakira replied. “And I just heard the news, too.”
When asked what the news was, she replied, “She’s pregnant.”
The “She Wolf” singer’s face then dropped and she covered her mouth, saying, “Am I not supposed to say that?”
She brushed it off by laughing, before adding, “Aww.”
People couldn’t help but comment on the possible slip, with one person writing, “You know us latinas are gonna share the tea IMMEDIATELY.”
Another person added, “She spilled the tea!!!”
“Her face haha she’s adorable,” one person commented.
Shakira and Rihanna’s friendship goes way back. The two famously collaborated on the 2014 song “Can’t Remember to Forget You.”
After working with Rihanna, Shakira praised the singer, telling Glamour that same year, “She’s the sexiest woman on the planet… The chemistry was so good and so real. She taught me dance moves. She was a sweet teacher.”
Shakira, however, did not spill the tea on Rihanna’s pregnancy. Before she arrived at the event, her partner A$AP Rocky broke the pregnancy news by teasing her outfit.
“Rihanna’s outfit tonight is … I don’t know, whatever, just don’t really cover her baby hump, you dig?” the rapper and co-chair of this year’s Met Gala told a reporter.
When she finally arrived in a bespoke Marc Jacobs look, she confirmed her pregnancy when someone asked her, “Hey Ri! Did you bring your umbrella-ella-ella, eh?”
She replied, “Rocky brought that,” and then pointed to her stomach and quipped, “I brought the kid!”
The “Rude Boy” singer told Access Hollywood on the carpet that she felt “a lot better (now) that I don’t have to suck my stomach in anymore.”
This will be Rocky and Rihanna’s third child. The couple are also parents to sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 1.
