A woman has shared the unique items she managed to get at McDonald’s in Tokyo, Japan, in a viral video – and people are seriously divided over the menu offerings
McDonald’s offerings vary greatly across the globe, and one travel enthusiast has revealed the unique menu items available in Japan, leaving fast food fans astonished.
While exploring places abroad, it is common for travellers to opt for local cuisine over familiar international chains. However, big brands like McDonald’s often tailor their menus to local tastes and traditions, making for an interesting culinary experience.
McDonald’s explains: “We try to adapt our menu to reflect different tastes and local traditions for every country in which we have restaurants. We’re keen to respect cultural differences and so every country has its own policy of developing menu items.”
As such, McDonald’s in Singapore serves the nasi lemak burger, Italy features authentic parmesan, and The Netherlands offers the McKroket, a fried patty with mustard on a bun. In a viral video, a travel blogger shared her unexpected McDonald’s finds in Tokyo, Japan.
The woman, who documents her travels and culinary adventures on TikTok as @downtotravel, ordered a McFloat Peach Lemonade, a Cheese Teritama burger, fries, and Shaka Shake Potato Ume-Nori Salt Flavour seasoning.

For dessert, she enjoyed chocolate and strawberry churros. Her post showcases the diverse menu offerings at McDonald’s in Japan, intriguing social media users worldwide.
The foodie displayed the distinctive packaging of her meal—adorned with cherry blossom motifs. On tasting the fries, she commented: “Not bad but I think the regular fries are better”. She rated them a solid 7.5 out of 10.
She found some joy in the burger, assigning it a score of 6.5 out of 10, yet remarked that the sauce was “too sweet”. Yet, it was the charming McFloat Peach Lemonade that truly won her over, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 as she vowed to choose it again.
However, the McDonald’s aficionado was less enchanted by their special dessert option – chocolate strawberry churros, criticizing them as “so dry and chalky” and accordingly rating them a mere 4/10.
Captivated by the unique menu, numerous viewers were eager to share their thoughts. An excited user exclaimed, “Omg no way this looks insane,” while another pondered, “Why does this look healthy?”.
A user expressed their fondness saying, “People saying Japanese McDonald’s isn’t good, you’re wrong. Way better than the US. I live in Japan and personally think it’s way better than the US.”
