Davina McCall’s brain surgeon had to fight back tears as he appeared on ITV’s Lorraine
Davina McCall’s surgeon admitted to “welling up” while listening to the TV star talk about her “second chance” at life. During a clip show on Lorraine from Comic Relief, Davina broke down during an emotional speech about her brain surgery.
Kevin O’Neill was the neurosurgeon who removed the 57-year-old’s benign brain tumour, and The Masked Singer judge could not be more grateful to him for his work.
ITV host Lorraine Kelly, 64, wanted to invite Kevin onto her show to say “thank you” to him for his life-saving work. During the discussion, they showcased Davina’s tearful speech.
After watching Davina become so emotional and how grateful she was to be alive, Kevin told the Scottish host: “I’m welling up watching that.”
Last November, the former Big Brother presenter discovered she had a colloid cyst during a health check-up as part of her menopause advocacy work.
Lorraine wanted to understand the “risks of doing nothing” and not operating on Davina. The surgeon confirmed that the worst-case scenario could have been detrimental to her memory and career as a presenter.
